Work history

Roles that shaped the practical skills behind Robins Pro.

Own private investigation agency

January 2022 – present

Opened and ran my own private investigation agency, handling instructions from first enquiry through to final report. This built direct experience in client management, scoping, fieldwork, evidence handling, and running a professional investigation service with discretion and personal accountability.

Criminal defence legal work

15 years

Fifteen years in a firm of solicitors working in criminal defence. This gave me deep exposure to legal process, police station procedure, case preparation, disclosure and the standards that solicitors and courts require.

NHS 111 out-of-hours service

3 years

Three years with the NHS 111 out-of-hours GP service, including throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. I took calls from the public under pressure, triaged concerns calmly, and documented accurately in a fast-moving, regulated environment.

Assessment officer and coach

2 years

Two years at a local mediation charity assessing housing tenants for suitability for mediation when they were in dispute with neighbours. This combined structured assessment, coaching conversations, and clear, fair reporting.

Voluntary work

Experience given back to communities and causes.

Voluntary English teacher

Taught English in China as a volunteer, supporting learners in a different cultural and educational context.

Mental health ambassador

Promoted mental health awareness and helped signpost people toward support and understanding.

Food waste hero at Olio

Worked locally to redistribute surplus food and reduce waste, supporting community and sustainability.

Tracker for a local online child protection service

Volunteered as a tracker, tracing individuals from limited information and obtaining their personal details so the ground team could conduct a sting. This work contributed to identifying online risks affecting children, brought predators to the attention of the Police, and supported a safer online environment.

Professional background

Where the expertise comes from.

Investigative background

  • Diploma in Private Investigation (distinction), with continuing professional development in evidence handling, surveillance practice, statement taking and report writing.
  • Opened and ran my own private investigation agency from January 2022, managing the full instruction lifecycle: enquiry, scoping, fieldwork, evidence handling and reporting.
  • Qualified Police Station Representative and Qualified Legal Executive — backed by fifteen years in criminal defence practice, giving me practical knowledge of criminal procedure, legal support work and the standards courts and solicitors expect.
  • Working knowledge of the legal framework enquiry work sits inside: data protection, privacy, harassment and the limits of lawful, proportionate enquiry.
  • Casework experience spanning statement taking, witness interviews, document and evidence review, legal support work, paid McKenzie friend, timeline creation, site visits, surveillance and process serving.
  • Reports written to be read by solicitors, insurers and courts — factual, sourced, and clear about what was and was not established.

Professional administrative experience

  • Years of office and business administration, focused on accurate, confidential task delivery.
  • Three years with NHS 111 out-of-hours GP services, taking calls from the public, recording information accurately and working under pressure during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Audio transcription, copy typing, data entry and customer feedback surveys — returned on time and to a consistent standard.
  • Customer service by email and phone, providing a calm, professional response on behalf of busy professionals and businesses.
  • Comfortable handling sensitive material — client files, case papers and business information — to a professional standard of accuracy and discretion.

Lived experience, coaching and the route into advisory work

  • Diploma in Life Coaching (distinction), applied to advisory work that helps organisations hear, understand and act on lived experience insight.
  • Two years as an assessment officer and coach at a local mediation charity, assessing housing tenants for suitability for mediation when in dispute with neighbours — combining structured assessment, coaching and clear reporting.
  • My lived experience is rooted in childhood sexual abuse and domestic abuse, including living in a women's refuge twice — once for nine months.
  • I do not share graphic detail publicly. These experiences inform my understanding of statutory and support services; they are not the product I sell, and clients do not need to know the details to benefit from the insight.
  • What I offer is lived experience consultancy: advising on domestic abuse and child abuse policy reviews, survivor-led service reviews, independent advocacy support, service design, training, research and advisory panels.
  • This is not therapy, counselling or psychological assessment. The advice I offer is based on lived experience, training, qualifications and experience gained in a professional capacity, with clear boundaries and a written brief for every engagement.
  • I also consider a limited amount of pro bono work to give back to organisations supporting survivors of abuse, where I can add clear value.

My values in practice

Confidentiality, professionalism and trauma informed practice.

Confidentiality

Discretion is assumed, never requested. Instructions are not discussed outside the work, information is stored securely and minimally, and disclosure happens only where there is a lawful reason or your explicit instruction. Files are retained only as long as they need to be.

Professionalism

Scope, cost and expectations agreed in writing before work begins. Methodical delivery, honest progress updates, and reporting that does not overstate what the evidence shows. If I am not the right person for a matter, I say so early — and I turn work down when I am already at capacity or the fit is not right.

Trauma informed practice

Safety, choice, transparency and control run through how I work with people — clear explanations, no pressure, no surprises, and no requirement for anyone to retell more of their story than the work genuinely needs.

Charity I support

CIS’ters — supporting survivors of child sexual abuse in Eastleigh.

Rape, sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children is endemic within our society. Society, and individuals within it, need to become more aware of the prevalence and impact of such crimes on survivors and take responsibility for the prevention and detection of such abuse, and the facilitation of recovery processes.

CIS’ters is a charity close to my heart. If you would like to donate to them or find out more about their work, please visit cisters.org.uk.

If the background fits what you need, the next step is simply to describe your situation.
